Mindfulness Photography Group

Photos against mental illness

Mindfulness Photography Group aims at helping the people of all ages, from all backgrounds, living with any form of mental illness. They organise photographic excursions in and around London, as well as exhibitions – on their website and social media for now. Through the practice of such a hobby, people feel rewarded, relaxed and less isolated. Eventually, it can reduce hospital admissions, which is the goal of the Mindfulness Photography Group.

The NHS noticed their action and proposed them to participate to a pop-up exhibition aiming to give a better understanding of mental illness, as members of the jury as well as exhibitors.

The broader project of this Group is to develop by becoming more sustainable. They would like for example to produce “real” photos, to organise their own exhibitions, potentially to sell some photos…and of course to gain more members.

Funding provided by the VINCI UK Foundation: £3,750.

This grant will enable this Group to purchase inks, a printer, printing paper, cameras and group laptop, all necessary to develop further.

VINCI Sponsor: Chris Staples, Design Manager, VINCI Construction.

Chris is already  supporting Mindfulness Photography on their photographic excursions of particularly east London, and will continue assisting in the supervision of further photographic excursions.
